![]() ![]() The alternate route - now dubbed the “Snowgrave Route” unofficially - was found by fans of the game and spread through Twitter as others began to find this path for themselves. Though it doesn’t change the ending like Undertale‘s “no mercy” route - where you kill every character you get into combat with - Deltarune‘s alternate route is just as devastating… with a much lower body count. Much like Undertale before it, Deltarune Chapter 2 features an alternate route based on choices you make. Note: Spoilers ahead for Deltarune Chapter 2. It’s something… a lot more complicated than that. ![]() In Fox’s two chapters of Deltarune since, the game has built upon Undertale’s foundation masterfully, from the greater detailed sprite work to the evolution of the bullet-hell turn-based combat system.Īnd yet, having finished Deltarune Chapter 2 myself now, it’s not the music or the jokes or the visuals that have stuck with me the most. Undertale drew fans in with its charming characters, a stellar soundtrack, and its clever subversion of typical RPG tropes. While Fox is vague about how the two games relate to one another, Deltarune is a spiritual successor to Undertale and will thus garner comparisons. Though not a sequel or a prequel - that we know of anyway - Deltarune features characters, gameplay mechanics, and concepts familiar to fans of the original. Mere days after Undertale‘s sixth anniversary, the second chapter of Fox’s latest project dropped to the delight of fans. Last Friday’s release of Deltarune Chapter 2 came as a surprise to many. The developer of Undertale and Deltarune has never shied away from pulling a fast one on his audience and if Deltarune Chapter 2 is any indication, he isn’t stopping now. According to Urban Dictionary, the only exceptions are that "A: the male character is already so androgynous that a female version would be basically the same, or B: the female version hasn't been drawn yet".Things are never what they seem with Toby Fox. Also, canonical instances of a genderbended character do not count as Rule 63, whether the alternate gender version of the character is the actual character or the gender counterpart of a character. However, this does not necessarily mean that there cannot be Rule 63 art of real people, which in fact does exist. It is important to point out that the rule only applies to fictional characters, and not to real people. Such gender-bending art has been also observed in the realms of Alternate Universe and Trap artworks. The existence of Rule 63 could be attributed to similar themes explored by other rules like Rule 28 ("Always question a person's gender, just in case it's really a man."), Rule 34 ("There is porn of it no exception.") and Rule 35 ("If no porn is found at the moment, it will be made."). According to the tags, the three most popular subjects for Rule 63 illustrations are Axis Power's Hetalia, Team Fortress 2, and Nintedo characters. ![]() As of April 26, 2011, the site has amassed over 19,968 pictures which translates into over 264 pages of images. In late 2009, a Danbooru-style imageboard site Rule 63 was launched. As of May 2009, there are over one thousand instances of "gender-bending" artworks tagged with Rule 63. The earliest instance of Rule 63 on DeviantArt was submitted by user Xxescaped-vulpinexX on Decem. Although Rule 63 is still dwarfed in search interest by the most successful of the "Internet Rules", Rule 34, over time it has shown fairly consistent growth in popularity. ![]()
